Uniquely WV Food & Wine Festival has a new Flavor for 2021
Selected by USA Today as West Virginia’s spring food festival.
BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV –
With pandemic precautions still on the forefront of many minds, organizers of the annual Berkeley Springs Uniquely WV Food and Wine Festival have added a new flavor to this year’s celebration, opting to create a “taste of the town” type event rather than inviting visitors to a single location.? “We have a new flyer that will direct folks to eateries, shops and spas who are featuring WV-made and themed products,” said Travel Berkeley Springs representative Laura Smith.
Kicking off the celebration on Saturday, April 24th, at 9:30AM, there is a dedication of a sidewalk star at the Star Theatre to honor the late Jeanne Mozier, a local historian and former owner of the property, who passed away in November 2020.? At 10:30, the Town of Bath Streetscapes committee will officially cut the ribbon to open the Congress Street rain garden project.? Garden tours will be available throughout the early afternoon and representatives will be on hand to discuss the next phases of the Streetscapes project.? An assortment of local farmer’s market vendors will be set up on Congress Street and throughout the downtown area from 10AM-2PM.
Local eateries, shops and spas are at the heart of the Uniquely WV celebration.? “Everyone is an honorary Mountaineer this weekend!” noted Chamber Director Lori Hansroth.? “From signature drinks, to dishes featuring WV grown ingredients, to WV-themed spa treatments and weekend specials in our shops, you’ll find lots of WV spirit in the air all weekend long.”
The Fairfax Coffee House will be featuring their mouthwatering ramp biscuits and Chef Bill at Coolfont Resort is serving up Double Dipped Deluxe French Toast featuring Morgan County maple syrup.? Many other local restaurants will include regional delights, such as morels and locally grown produce, on their menus as well.
On Saturday evening Ravenwood Pub is hosting their first West Virginia Farm to Table Dinner prepared by Guest Chef Bill Wilson, All ingredients will be locally sourced from West Virginia farmers.??Seating is limited to 20 people and reservations are required.
A WV documentary, Born in a Ballroom, will be airing at the Star Theatre at 2pm on Saturday & 1pm on Sunday. ?This film “explores the relationship of the Hütte Restaurant, its founder Eleanor Mailloux and the rural Appalachian community of Helvetia, WV she called home.”? The theatre will also be showing Speed Racer and Talledega Nights throughout the weekend.
From 6-9PM on Saturday night, The Country Inn of Berkeley Springs will host All Grassed Up, a local bluegrass band, on Saturday night and Justinian Mullens will be entertaining at the Canary Grill.
