What’s New in Berkeley Springs May 6-9, 2021
A week of showers has spring truly “busting out all over” in?Berkeley Springs this Mother’s Day weekend. The road and mountainsides are alive in a million shades of fresh green trimmed in a variety of colors from the creamy white of dogwood blossoms to the soft purple of lilacs. In town, the colors come from street pots and gardens areas as well.
First we will start with the unique entertainment this weekend.? The Star Theatre is hosting live music this Thursday night at 7pm with Derek Kretzer. You can buy tickets online. Friday night Master magician David Hagerman will perform his science-based magical wizardry at 7:30 pm via a virtual live streaming feed on Zoom.? Known as one of the world’s most secretive magicians, Hagerman has previously performed to full houses at the Ice House as part of the Morgan Arts Council’s (MAC) “Adopt-a-School” program.? Entertaining for both young and old, the show is a full-fledged science show that incorporates magical elements It’s free!
Saturday the Shimmy Mob will be belly dancing at noon in the Berkeley Springs State Park then 1pm in front of the courthouse.? This is a world wide event to bring awareness to domestic violence.? The Morgan County chapter has been participating for over 5 years raising money that stays in the county. Saturday 6-9pm stop in Berkeley Springs Brewing Company for a craft beer and live music.
The Star Theatre?features Godzilla vs Kong Fri and Sat at 8pm then Sun at 7 for moms everywhere who often feel this describes their lives. For a family outing Tom and Jerry are featured Sat at 5pm and Sun at 4pm. Mom will also love the idea of great popcorn that she doesn’t have to make.
All the restaurants are going all out to see that mom does not need to cook on her day — Sunday. Since this is the biggest dining out day of the year, we urge you to make reservations so as to not be disappointed. From noon to 6 on Sunday, The Country Inn?has a Mother’s Day Buffet in the beautiful Garden Room. Charlotte’s Café is open for breakfast 8-11 and from noon to 6 offers a limited menu including ribeye steak, smoked chicken and rainbow tortellini.? Coolfont Resort specials include pork tenderloin, surf and turf and Miss Harriet’s desserts. Other fine dining options include Tari’s Cafe, Lot 12 Public House, Ravenwood Pub, and Canary Grill. Check the dining menu for other choices both on Mother’s Day and all weekend long.

For the outdoors Cacapon State Park has Art with Ari on Sat at 11am, join park volunteer and local artist to create an 11×14 canvas painting on native flowering trees and wild flowers that that bloom here. 2pm is a wildflower hike and Sunday 10am is a morning walk around the lake discovering a variety of wild flowers: bluets, columbine, golden ragwort. What better way to enjoy spring than on a trail ride at Good Luck Stables.
